The results on the luminescence studies of RbCaCl$_3$ crystals using syncrotron radiation in the 5–40 eV spectral region have been presented. The luminescence spectroscopy data confirm the exciton nature of the crystal intrinsic emission. The interpretation of the yield spectra features is proposed on the basis of the data on the tentative energy band scheme of the RbCaCl$_3$ crystals and regular mechanisms of relaxation of high–energy excitations in solids (inelastic photoelectron scattering, Auger–process, non–radiative decay at the defects).
