Since 1987 Director of the Institute of Physics (Kyiv). Dr. Of physics and mathematics, professor. Since 2006, honorary director of the Institute of Physics of the NAS of Ukraine, head of nonlinear optics. Research interests: Optic low-temperature crystals and crystal spectroscopy, surface excitons, contours and exciton-phonon interaction, polarity spectroscopy; semiconductor lasers; non-linear optics: two-photon semiconductor excitation, optical bistability. harmonic generation, mode interactions; Photoacoustic spectroscopy of materials for electronic equipment. More than 400 scientific papers. Lenin Prize in Science and Technology (1966), Medal For Valiant Labor (1970), the Order of Honor (1981), USSR State Prize in Science (1982), Order of the October Revolution (1985), State Prize of Ukraine in Science and engineering (1994), K.Synelnikov Prize NAS of Ukraine (1998), Honored Scientist of Ukraine (1992).
