An investigation of the temperature dependence of the resistivity $ρ (T)$ of the orthorhombic YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_x$ samples prepared by annealing and quenching was carried out. A distinction in some properties of the samples which possess identical oxygen content but are prepared by these two different methods is clearly demonstrated. An explanation connected with different processes of order–disorder and different amounts of Cu$^{3+}$ states in annealing and quenching specimens is proposed.
