The results on the studying of photoluminescence spectra and excitation photoluminescence spectra of the BaCd$_2$Cl$_6$:Sn crystal in the temperature range of 77-300 K are reported. Several photoluminescence bands, which correspond to the transitions from Jahn-Teller minima of adiabatic potential energy surface of $^3T_{1u}$ state into $^1A_{1g}$ ground state of Sn$^{2+}$ impurity ion, were observed at 2.68, 2.50, 2.31 and 2.50 eV. An assignment of the excitation bands with $A$-, $B$- and $C$-absorbtion bands of Sn$^{2+}$ impurity were made on the basis of a general regularity of their location in $BX_2$:Sn and $ABX_3$:Sn crystals. The value of the absolute quantum efficiency of the photoluminescence $η_k$ was determined and its temperature dependence was explored. From the Mott equation an activation energy of the non-radiative transitions ($ε=36$ meV) and quenching constant ($C=0.61\cdot 10^2$) for the BaCd$_2$Cl$_6$:Sn crystal were calculated.
