It is known that the linearized hydrodynamic equations well describe the dynamical properties of liquids and liquid mixtures in the range of hydrodynamic regime, i. e. for large spatial and time scales. The goal of this paper is to study the behaviour of a system just beyond the hydrodynamic region for a case, when non-conserved parameters, i. e., parameters, which cannot be represented as densities of conserved quantities, are included into the basic set of dynamic variables. In particular, the dynamics of a binary mixture is considered within the basic set of dynamic variables which includes the partial energies' densities of both subsystems. It is shown that there exist two heat modes, one of which is a hydrodynamic one and describes thermodiffusion in the system, and the second mode is a kinetic one and describes the process of temperature equilibration between subsystems. In the hydrodynamic limit the contribution of the second mode is negligible.
