The review is devoted to the study of discrete surface models and their quantum spin counterparts. The work examines temperature transitions between flat, rough, reconstructed, and disordered flat phases. The fundamental aspect of the work is the transfer matrix method used for the description of temperature SOS models behaviour. The order parameters for surface phases and the quantum spin systems phases at zero temperature are confronted by the mean of transfer matrix method. The dependence is set between the asymptotic of correlation functions height-height and spin correlation functions.
