The work is devoted to the study of optical and spectral properties of the (CH$_{3}$)$_{2}$NH$_{2}$Al(SO$_{4}$)$_{2}$$\times$6H$_{2}$O$\colon$Cr$^{3+}$ (DMAAS$\colon$Cr$^{3+}$) crystals. On the basis of the analysis of the photoluminescence spectra temperature evolution the occurence of low temperature phase transitions in the DMAAS$\colon$Cr$^{3+}$ at $T_{1}=75$ K has been confirmed. The conclusion about the localized center nature of the photoluminescence in such crystals was made and the luminescence quenching energy was calculated. As a result, the energy diagram of the Cr$^{3+}$ ions in DMAAS$\colon$Cr$^{3+}$ crystals has been refined.
