The layered chemical surface deposition of CdS films from CdCl$_{2}$ solution on glass and ITO coated glass substrates was investigated. The CdS films with the thickneses of 40-100\,nm exhibit negligible occurrence of particulates (10$^{6}$-10$^{7}$\,cm$^{-2}$) making CSD films suitable for the window layer in a CdS/CdTe solar cell. The optical and structural properties of CdS films are discussed.
