The electron spectrum and wave functions in the spherical quantum dot with a hydrogenic impurity are investigated in the effective mass approximation by the variational method as well as that of the perturbation theory. The investigations are performed for the cases of the on-center, off-center and external impurities. The estimations of accuracy of the electron energy and wave functions which were obtained by the variation method are performed. Discussed in the paper is the convergence of the results obtained by the variational method with exact solutions of the Shrodinger equation for the on-center impurity with the results of the perturbation theory for external impurity. The electron ground state energy in quantum dot with two donor impurities is calculated by the variation method and by the method of perturbation theory. It is shown that in the limited case when both impurities are in the center of the quantum dot the electron ground state energy coincides with the known result for a doubleionizated impurity.
