In the present paper a detailed procedure of the manufacture of a composite comprising elastic matrix and 100 nm silver nanoparticles has been presented. Features of the procedure provide the formation of a flat nanoparticle array with the average spacing of about 100-200 nm. A new coherent plasmon mode arises due to interparticle interactions, which manifests itself as a narrow intense absorption peak at 450 nm. The distances between the neighbouring nanoparticles change while the nanocomposite is being subjected to the uniaxial stretch resulting in drastic decrease of the peak intensity. A high sensitivity of the nanocomposite to the refractive index of the surrounding medium has been discovered for the providing creation of proper sensors.
