A dependence of barically induced optical path difference on the twinning structure of a sample is analyzed on the example of K$_{2}$HPO$_{4}$ crystals. A necessity for taking into account baric changes in the geometric domain dimensions is shown. It is revealed that the signs of the baric changes in refractive indices are proportional to the sample density, while the baric changes in the phase transitions temperature depends linearly on the uniaxial pressure value. The sign of the latter changes are determined by the uniaxial pressure direction. This study illustrates well peculiar features of studying the polydomain crystals. The character of the obtained results depends strongly upon the twinning structure of sample. We prove that the direction of the baric changes in the PT temperature can be derived and the relation between the twinning components along the $Z$-axis can be calculated. The absolute measurements of constants should be performed on single-domain regions of the sample, otherwise the relation between the twinning components along the light beam direction has to be previously determined.
